PRESS RELEASE RACING ENGINEERING

Borja Garcia and Racing Engineering join forces!

Racing Engineering is very happy to announce that Borja Garcia, the talented 21 year old driver from Valencia will compete together with the team from Andalusia in the 2004 Spanish Formula 3 Championship. Borja, who already proved his qualities during several tight races against Racing Engineering’s 2003 Champion Ricardo Mauricio, together with his new team has a very clear goal for the upcoming season: Win the drivers championship as well as make Racing Engineering team champions for the fourth consecutive year.
Borja will have his first official outing with Racing Engineering in Albacete, where the traditional Winter Series race of the Spanish F3 Championship is held this weekend.

It will not be the first time that the young Spaniard will be behind the steering wheel of one of Racing Engineering’s single seaters. In fall 2002 Racing Engineering gave Borja the chance to drive it’s Dallara Nissan V6 on a free test day in Valencia and he impressed Racing Engineering’s staff not only by the lap times marked, but also by his professional approach of working. Therefore it was only a question of time when one of Spain’s biggest talents in racing would join forces with Racing Engineering to fight for a championship title.

Borja Garcia Menéndez was born in Valencia on the 15th of December 1982. His hobbies are mechanics of race cars, racing karts, Playstation and sports. Like this he not only meets the typical interests of a race driver, but being from Valencia he also mentioned, “I really like paella. Almost all Sundays when I am at home, we eat paella!”

After missing the vice championship title in 2003 by only one point, Borja’s goals are high for the 2004 season and Racing Engineering will do its best in helping him achieve them. Borja Garcia, after becoming Racing Engineering’s driver announced, “I am very happy with my new team Racing Engineering as it’s one of the best teams there is, if not the best. They have very good people, not only from a professional point of view, but also from a human point of view. Like this I am expecting a lot from this season and this obviously involves winning the Spanish F3 Championship with Racing Engineering.”

Already this weekend Borja Garcia will drive Racing Engineering’s Dallara Toyota at the Winter Series race in Albacete and he stated, “This weekend it will be hard to finish the race in first position given the fact that there will also be two cars normally competing in the F 3 Euroseries and therefore having more horsepower. Nevertheless we will try to have the best car we can and I guess that the weather conditions will not be the best as we will have low temperatures, wind and maybe even rain. But what is clear for me is that I want to cross the finish line before the other Spanish F3 cars and I will try to do this as close to the Euro F3 cars as possible. And if I can cross it ahead of them, then I will also try to do it.”
